Heather Burkey-Skye, LPC

Warm Regards, my name is Heather Burkey-Skye. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have been providing mental health services for over fifteen years. I hold a master’s degree in clinical psychology. I genuinely enjoy the process of therapy and counseling, and I often incorporate life coaching into my practice. I always believe in providing nonjudgmental acceptance. I want to hear YOUR truth! Our journey together begins with our therapeutic relationship, as well as the rapport and trust between us.

I provide support, therapy and life coaching for individuals, families and children of all ages who suffer from just “plain old stress”. to mild/severe anxiety and depression, as well as other mood disorders. Any of these can leave a person feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, a feeling of being constantly overwhelmed, hurtful people, low self-esteem, comparing self to others, or not feeling good enough. You may take care of everyone yet don’t get your own needs met. You seek a partner or to improve your relationship, but your past gets in the way.

I have a clinical specialty as a Brain Injury Support Specialist in working with those who have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) as well as family members of those with a TBI.I have many years experience with the LGBTQ+ community and have been a support for several clients going through their transition.

I help clients become their best selves through self-exploration, empowerment and identifying self-defeating behaviors and patterns. I always offer a non-judgmental environment and unconditional positive regard. Often, one already holds the keys to unlocking the potential within and finding the answers to what is holding them back. Reconnecting with your own wisdom in therapy gives you the power to recognize your worth and needs, improve relationships, and fully care for yourself. Our work will help heal experiences that affect feeling whole like childhood hurts, family problems, grief, and trauma. I can help you live your whole authentic self with less stress.

My goal, as a therapist is to help you feel happier in who you are: with yourself, your family, and romantic partners. I create a warm, non-judging relationship for sharing your story and am with you the whole way.

Modalities and treatment specialties used, but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Psychodynamic (family of origin exploration), Person Centered, Solution Focused , Trauma Informed, Therapeutic Visitation Facilitation, Foster Care, Department of Human Services, Guardian Ad Litem Clinical Consultant (GAL-CC).
