I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Reflective Wellness: Mind and Body. When we meet, you may find a little dog with blue eyes, named Finnegan, who loves treat and pets. If you want him to, he will even sit in your lap. My specialty is working with people around coping skills after enduring trauma.
Info on modalities:
I specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which takes memories and pain of old trauma disrupting your like and helps the pain and triggering you may feel and transforms it into neutral memories. It is truly life-changing therapy.
I can also help with coping skills that are self-destructive with a therapy called DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). This therapy can teach you effective coping skills to use in your life from now forward. Sometimes coping skills are developed early in life due to trauma or life circumstances that are effective when a child growing to get essential needs met. Sometimes this can be things like self-harm or consistent thoughts of suicide.
How I help:
I provide a safe space for you to express yourself freely with no judgement. I know it takes a lot of courage to share your story and we can work on trust so you feel comfortable in sharing. Learning how to cope in your future can change your life.
More about me:
When I am not working, I love to sing and am a member of a chorus. My sister and I love to go to plays and movies or just laughing over lunch. I like to take Finn to the dog park on Sundays. He mostly just sniffs other dogs.
