I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Colorado. I am passionate about working with adolescents and families. I believe that rapport building is crucial in creating a strong therapeutic relationship. I work to ensure that my therapy space feels comfortable and safe.
As a strengths-based & client-centered clinician, my role is to support my clients in making the best decisions possible. I take a genuine and authentic approach to help individuals and families work through current challenges and address underlying issues. I focus on client strengths and encourage my clients to take on an active role in their treatment. In my work with clients, I take a non-directive approach that aims to increase self-awareness, facilitate self-growth, and assist with the healing process.
A systemic approach focuses on a child’s relationship with their environment. Taking into consideration a youth’s family, peer group, school, and community allows for a more in-depth understanding of all the factors that may be contributing to a child’s mood/and or behavior. When using a systemic approach, I emphasize the importance of a caregiver’s participation, and I work to provide caregivers with the tools they need to better support their child’s mental health needs.
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my work with adolescents is one of the most effective ways to address distorted thinking patterns. CBT allows individuals to recognize self-destructive thoughts/behaviors and come up with more positive responses to the problem. It helps teens deal with present issues and understand the interconnectedness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
More about me: I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work at Colorado State University (Go Rams!). I specialize in providing psychotherapy to families and adolescents. My focus is working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, identity conflict, trauma, and/or behavioral issues. I have experience working in a variety of settings, including residential, in-home, outpatient, and school settings. When I am not working, I enjoy being outdoors with my dog. I love being active and value time spent with family and friends.
