Christine Yan, MSW, LCSW

Info about me: I have been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) for the past two years but have had 10 years of working experience in the field of mental health. I have known that I have had a lifelong calling to pursue the field of clinical psychotherapy since I was 16 years old. Since then, I have completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in psychology from the University of Colorado in Boulder. After working with at-risk adolescents in a residential treatment center and working for psychiatrists treating severe mental illness, I then pursued her master’s in social work (MSW) from the University of Southern California. This is where I concentrated on Adult Mental Health and Wellness while running a Forensic Social Work Caucus. During my internships, I explored creative treatment modalities for children and older adults. Since graduation, I have worked with severe mental illness, those who are at risk for homelessness and incarceration, have done family therapy, Neurofeedback, and worked in a Jail Competency Restoration program.

How I help:

I take on a bio-psycho-social approach that specializes in trauma-informed care. That is, I take into consideration nature versus nurture, fostering an empathetic approach that meets the client where they are at during all phases of treatment. Ultimately, I help the client seek their own meaning to be the main driver of change.

More about me:

Others know me as personable, creative, and humorous. I am a firm believer that the therapeutic relationship is a significant factor in helping the client empower themselves. During my free time I love to spend time with loved ones, create art, enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Colorado, and listen to music.
