Hi I’m Darren McGhee, a counseling student with Reflective Wellness, and originally from Memphis, Tennessee. I am currently attending Adams State University, located in Alamosa, Colorado. I have completed my practicum and part one of my internship portion of my academic studies. These completed aspects of my counseling journey have provided many opportunities to develop and strengthen my skills as a counselor.

My approach is centered around focusing in the client, their goals, and how I can assist them with reaching these goals in the healthiest way possible. By creating an open, non-judgmental and safe environment, space is opened to invite all feelings and experiences and to be investigated with tenderness And compassion. So far in my journey I have worked with those who have experienced intense feelings of guilt, shame, and anxiety. I have also worked with those experiencing burnout and the effects of people-pleasing.

How I can help

I believe to fully assist those that are seeking counseling, I must meet you where you are and assist with turning challenging ways of thinking into strengths. This reframing is found through the use of various methods from different therapy theories/modalities to games and book recommendations.

More About Me

When I am not counseling others, I enjoy reading and collecting all kinds of books, mostly those of the horror and mystery genre. I also love to crochet (making mostly scarves because they’re easy) and to paint. I enjoy exploring different parts of Colorado with my partner and binge-watching shows on Netflix.
