Robin Munro, MA, LCSW
Hi! I am Robin Munro, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Reflective Wellness: Mind and Body. Additionally, I am a Supervisor and Full Operating Juvenile SOMB provider and trained in EMDR. My focus is working with children, adolescents, and their families as they work their way through the change process to be the healthiest versions of themselves. I have a background in working with clients in residential and day treatment, which has allowed me to learn how to apply a trauma-focused lens, even when complicated systems are in play.
Info on Modalities
My passion is working with juveniles who have had problematic sexual behaviors or who need to complete OFFENSE SPECIFIC TREATMENT with the hopeful goal of reunification with their families and being able to move forward in a healthy way. This involves working on thought distortions, healthy boundaries, healthy sexuality, and increasing personal safety to remain in the community.
I am trained in EMDR, which is used in helping to acknowledge traumatic events that are continuing to impact individuals, and reprocess them in the hope of disconnecting the difficult emotions and seeing the personal strength that came from the situation. This can be used for a variety of situations, but will be assessed on an individual basis.
While I operate from a CLIENT CENTERED approach, I utilize interventions from ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), and MI (motivational interviewing) to individualize treatment. Seeing an individual for who they truly are is a value I hold most closely in my work. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, low self esteem, identity formation, skill development, and learning to manage the symptoms of various mental health conditions.
How I help
I provide an open, safe, non judgmental space for either traditional talk or creative expressions through games or art. In working with both the client and family, we will balance honest accountability with aligning on the same goals to move forward. Sometimes therapy is challenging, but the goal is to never feel alone in the process. We will capitalize on strengths, practice skills, and hopefully learn some new things along the way.
More about me
When not working, I enjoy spending time with friends, my partner, and my two cats, Bonnie and Clyde. I enjoy trying new recipes with cooking or baking, reading, watching shows/movies that are recommended by others and I am learning to play video games (which is comical to watch). Like my clients, I am also always working to be a healthier version of myself. Favorites include: unicorns, ice cream, motivational stickers, and triceratops dinosaurs.
