Sydney Silver, MS, LPCC

Hello! My name is Sydney Silver, I am a full-time school counselor at Byers 32J and a part-time clinician at Reflective Wellness Mind and Body. I grew up training horses and volunteering at a non-profit organization that used horseback riding to help children with physical and mental disabilities. I graduated from Colorado State University with an undergraduate double major in Equine Science and Psychology in 2018. In 2021, I earned my master’s degree in School Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado. I am an LPCC currently working on obtaining my LPC.   In my spare time, I love to train in Jiu Jitsu, go Snowboarding, ride horses and go camping.

My theoretical orientation is person-centered therapy, as I believe all people are inherently good and have the potential to grow. I will pull interventions from other therapeutic approaches such as Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Reality Therapy to best fit my client’s needs.  In Spring of 2024, I rescued a puppy that was abandoned at a grocery store in town. With the help of the students at Byers Secondary School, I trained Lylla, who is now a fully certified Therapy dog through the Professional Therapy Dogs of Colorado.  Lylla helps clients who are comfortable working with dogs build confidence, learn communication skills, manage anxiety, learn problem-solving and more.  Lylla is specially trained to interrupt symptoms of depression and anxiety such as crying, leg shaking, etc.

My mission is to make your time in therapy enjoyable while providing a safe and comfortable environment to be vulnerable and grow. My favorite part about being a therapist is figuring out how to use my client’s strengths to their advantage in therapy. I believe client and therapist should work together in a partnership to determine the best treatment plan to maximize client growth.
