Sean Sutherland MA, Intern

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, University of Colorado

Master’s Candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Adams State University

With a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Colorado and 16 years of experience as a manager in the tech industry, I bring a unique perspective to the field of counseling. My journey into mental health counseling was inspired by my work supporting individuals through challenging moments in their lives a role I found deeply meaningful and rewarding.

As a practicum student pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University, I am excited to explore working with a variety of populations and demographics. While I am still developing my therapeutic approach, I am committed to meeting each client where they are and tailoring my methods to suit their unique needs.

Colleagues and clients often describe me as an empathetic and effective listener, able to build trust quickly. I believe in the innate potential of every individual to grow and evolve, and I am honored to support anyone striving to become the best version of themselves.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy woodworking, maintaining a reef tank, and finding inspiration in creativity—whether through my own projects or observing others' creations. I also prioritize self-care through daily workouts, family time, and building things that bring me joy and fulfillment.

I am eager to continue developing my skills and exploring where this meaningful path in mental health counseling will lead me.
