Mahri Relin, Intern

Hello!  I am Mahri Relin, and I am currently working on completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University.  I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Williams College and a Clinical Psychology masters from San Diego State University. Starting therapy takes a lot of courage.  I am here to help you address issues in your life and relationships that feel difficult to manage, in addition to big times of change and upheaval.  I believe in the importance of creating a safe, judgment-free experience in which you are free to be who you are. I am here to support your process and understand you as deeply as I can.  I also look forward to helping you identify the direction that feels right for you and develop the skills that will help you reach your goals.  I welcome diversity in age, sexual and gender identification, cultural background, spiritual orientation, and ethnicity. In my previous work as a fitness owner, I was devoted to helping women get through major life transitions, like pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause.  I learned to appreciate all the issues that came up for women during such big times of change.  From this work as well as my background as a professional dancer, I believe deeply in the mind-body connection embraced here at Reflective Wellness.  I have a strong interest in somatic approaches and the ways our bodies speak to us, especially the ways we hold emotion and traumatic experience.  I am also interested in the ways our early relationships affect us throughout our lives, which is so helpful as we understand ourselves and find new ways to connect in the world. When I am not here, you might find me in a dance class, going to live theater, taking long walks on sunny days, or cozying up by the fire with my fiancé and little Maltese puppy.  I used to live in the hustle and bustle of New York City, but I couldn’t be happier here in beautiful, nature-filled Colorado!
