Brooke Weigand, M.Ed., LPCC

Info about me:

Hello, my name is Brooke Loepp. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in the state of Colorado. I recently moved to Colorado from Cleveland, Ohio and am excited to be able to do what I love and help those who seek it in this beautiful state. I believe in providing a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who is seeking help and support in their lives. My focus is on empowering adolescents and adults and providing them a safe space to discuss and reach their goals, in and out of counseling. The majority of my experience has revolved around helping those who struggle with depression, anxiety, unhelpful thought patterns, and stress. I often discuss the importance of boundaries in one’s life, increasing self-esteem and assertiveness, and decreasing codependency.

Info on modalities:

I utilize a strengths-based, person-centered approach by incorporating techniques from theories including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as Narrative Therapy amongst a few others.

To challenge and improve negative and unhelpful thought patterns and break cognitive cycles, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT can be used to break the triangle between thoughts, feelings and behaviors that often have us feeling ‘stuck,’ helpless, and trapped in a negative mindset. I utilize CBT to help you identify your core beliefs and thinking errors in order to improve your overall thought patterns and improve different areas of your life.

Narrative Therapy can be helpful in helping you tell your story, and to identify what parts of that story you would like to change based on negative experiences from the past. Using Narrative Therapy, I can help you identify your values and utilize your skills to productively manage future issues that may occur.

When utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I can help you identify your values and behave in ways that align with these values. We are faced with situations that are out of our control on a regular basis, ACT can help you better face these situations when they occur by practicing mindfulness, clarifying your values, self-observation and more.

Another therapy that is helpful with mindfulness is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Using DBT, I can help you become more present in the moment and learn ways to cope with stress and increase positive emotions. In DBT, we will also work together to identify negative thinking patterns and find positive ways to improve these.

How I help:

I ensure I am utilizing skills and techniques that meet each individual clients’ needs as every individual is unique and should be treated as such. I work to establish an environment where you can be yourself and discuss your challenges while helping you to identify your strengths and utilizing those in other areas of your life. I accept you for who you are while identifying who your ideal self may be and work with you on getting their and achieving your goals in order to live a more wholesome, purposeful, happy life. I am happy to provide resources and coping strategies while I follow you through your journey while also simply being a listening, supportive presence.

More about me:

I recently moved to Colorado from Cleveland and often spend my free time finding a new hiking spot, cooking, or trying out cool restaurants and coffee shops, reading books that allow me to grow personally and as a counselor, and calling my friends and family from Ohio. I enjoy spending time with my partner as well as the friends I have made here so far.
