Julie Brownfield MA, Intern
Everyone comes to counseling with different experiences, strengths, and reasons for seeking support, and I believe therapy should reflect that uniqueness. I strive to create a warm, collaborative space where you can feel heard, accepted, and free to be yourself. My approach is authentic, practical, and flexible, with a focus on understanding what matters most to you.
I work with adults, teens, and children, and I am especially passionate about supporting those who have experienced trauma, phobias, anxiety, or mood disorders. I welcome people of all identities and backgrounds and am deeply committed to providing inclusive, affirming care.
Currently, I am a counseling intern in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program at Adams State University. I am EMDRIA-trained in EMDR and certified in neurofeedback through BrainPaint.
Before entering the counseling field, I spent more than 20 years in education, working with individuals across general, special, and adult education settings. These decades of experience strengthened my core belief in meeting people exactly where they are, honoring their unique strengths, and finding creative ways to connect and support them.
Outside of the counseling room, I love being outdoors gardening or hiking and staying active through strength training and yoga. I also enjoy reading, diving into creative projects, playing board games, and spending quality time with my family and my dogs.
