Raquel Ibarra MA, Intern
I have a deep respect for your decision in seeking therapy. It requires genuine bravery, and I respect the courage it takes to begin. A quote I love by Carl Jung says, "We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses." Real, lasting transformation starts not by forcing yourself to change, but by learning to meet who you are with understanding and grace.
As a Counseling Intern at Adams State University completing my LPCC, I view therapy as a collaborative journey where we explore your story together. I have experience as a practicum student working with teens and young adults, which involved supporting individuals and families through trauma, crisis, eating disorders, sexual and domestic violence, substance use, relational challenges, and suicidal ideation.
As an intern, I work with people of all ages and walks of life. As a Hispanic, queer woman, I am dedicated to providing culturally mindful, inclusive care that honors every part of your identity. In our work together, I draw from Person-Centered, Existential, and Narrative therapies, alongside practical tools from CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused therapy. Because healing sometimes involves more than just words, I also welcome the body into our sessions through some somatic practices like tapping, music, and art.
Therapy is most effective when there is genuine connection between the client and counselor. Through Reflective Wellness Mind and Body, I offer both in-person and online sessions, accept all insurances, and provide free or reduced-cost options for those who qualify. I work closely with my supervisor to ensure I deliver the best support and care to you. If you are interested in working with me we will start with an intake so we can feel if we are a good match. It would be a privilege in supporting you in your healing journey and helping you find relief.
