Hello and welcome! My name is Kim Kucera (she/they), I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate. I approach my work with clients through a person-centered lens. I provide a comfortable, non-judgmental space for clients to go through the process of self-discovery. I truly believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves, and I am here to walk alongside you throughout your healing journey. I also provide a queer-affirming space that welcomes all identities, backgrounds, and orientations.
I generally work with adolescents and adults. I gravitate toward Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which can help you challenge and recognize distorted thinking patterns and become more present in the moment. By learning skills in Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance you will gain tools to help cope with the stressors that impact your everyday life.
I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which has been proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD. EMDR is a type of therapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
When I’m not working, I enjoy doing yoga and Zumba. I love spending time with my family and our many pets, and I enjoy spending time outside during the summer whether it’s sitting by the pool or working in the garden.
